How to prep for #MCON14

I’m honored to be an #MCON14 insider for the 5th year in 5 years. What was once a great idea to bring rockstars together to discuss millennial engagement in nonprofits – has grown into an online and in-person party with a purpose. Here’s how to get the most out of it! (Not registered yet? Win a ticket by tweeting (or retweeting) this post and tagging me, @nathan_hand. I’ll randomly pick a winner Tuesday!)

1. Read the research

Take a quick look at the past research. The latest will be shared at MCON14. It will guide the conversation.

2. Choose your weapons

Make sure you’re ready to take notes, tweet, browse, eat and drink.  I choose Evernote, Hootsuite, Chrome, a sandwich and (at least) 2 Mountain Dews.

3. Map your priority sessions

Nonprofit Hub shares their anticipated top 7.  Here’s the full schedule. I have my heart set on Culture (9:10AM Wednesday), Relationships (1:40PM Wednesday) and Pitch competition (10:50AM Thursday).

4. Follow and engage speakers

Until or unless someone provides a full list, take a few minutes and browse the speaker list and gather Twitter handles for easy engagement.

No matter what – dive in, engage and note the ‘a-ha’ moments you can apply to your own organization. I promise, there will be plenty!
